Maximum Value from Waste, Minimum Environmental Impact
Omrin wants to build a new Digestaat Drooginstallatie (DDI) in Harlingen. This installation dries digestaat thermally instead of biologically. This results in less emissions and a higher energy yield.
Harlingen
Realized: mid-2027
Status: in preparation
What are we going to do?
We dry fine digestate with locally generated sustainable energy. In this way, we preserve the caloric value and limit the emissions of greenhouse gases and nitrogen compounds. The installation can start with 60,000 tons per year, with the possibility to expand up to 120,000 tons.
Better Future, Smarter Drying
Now, digestate is externally biologically dried. With our own installation, we ensure processing at Ecopark De Wierde and strengthen the production of sustainable energy.
What does it yield?
- Lower environmental impact
- Fewer emissions
- In-house processing within Omrin
- Production of biogranulate (90–95% dry matter) as biofuel
A clean and sustainable world. That's what we're aiming for. Digestaat Drooginstallatie Harlingen is also part of our 2025-2029 strategy. Read more about our strategy.
